Independent Writing Project

Some parents wonder why their kids lie to them about going to a friend’s house when really, they are going to a party. Some teachers wonder why their student’s cut classes and hand in work that hadn’t been put great effort into. Well really, teenagers today experience a lot more work. They had to maintain school work and sometimes even clubs and sports teams. Teenagers rebel to get away from stress, to fit in, and to gain more freedom.
Stress is a common thing that teenagers complain about. Too much homework will overwhelm them and it can take away from their sleeping hours. Some teachers give quizzes and test weekly leaving the student finding a balance between academics and sports activities. Some may feel that they are failing classes and some may feel that they should quit their teams. This results in many students cutting classes and smoking. It’s a way of them to escape from all the stress that they get. Stress is one of the factors that teenager rebel against.
Some teenagers rebel just to fit in. They think that if they don’t act like those popular people then they are not cool. Popular kids tend to do drugs and things that are against the school rules and in order to stay popular, some kids must follow and do what they do. This also cause kids to be sneaky around their parents and sometimes they will lie to get what they wanted. Teenager rebel just to fit.
Freedom is frequently a thing that many teenagers wanted to get more of and if they don’t get enough, they rebel. Many students wanted to wear what they wanted, go wherever they wanted and do whatever they wanted, but sometimes parents don’t allow them to do these things. Therefore, many kids rebel, they go against their parent’s will. They run away, they do drugs, they smoke and all kinds of other things. Teenager rebel to gain freedom.

Overall, teenagers rebel to get away from stress, to fit in, and to gain more freedom. All of these lead to cutting school, smoking, and doing all sorts of drugs. If teenagers are being pressure too much, they can rebel. This shows the reader that parent’s should give enough freedom, and teachers should reduce the amount of homework because it can overwhelm them.
